Technology these days really is not like what I envisioned it would be when I was young. Back when I first discovered the magic of computers I saw a world where technology enabled users to do all sorts of wondrous things at the user’s discretion.

The reality of our current technology landscape though is quite different. We are tracked and surveilled everywhere we go and our choices for technology solutions seems to be getting more restricted to a few walled gardens even though we have an absolute abundance of technology itself.

With this realization of what has slowly been the decay of my idealism around technology I have decided to take the power back as much as I can in my own life and will document the journey as I go. We can use free and open solutions that are user centered. We can have an internet that feels safe and built for the benefit of the people.
